Start with the plant
If there is usable supply ductwork or an accessible AHU, ducted scenting is usually cheaper per square metre than several standalone units.
Scenting systems
Standalone, HVAC and AHU scenting systems compared — coverage, install, running cost and which one suits your building.
Commercial scenting systems come in three forms. A standalone diffuser sits in the room and covers up to 500m² — plug-and-play, no plant required. HVAC scenting injects fragrance into existing supply ductwork, carrying scent with conditioned air to every zone that duct serves, up to 1,000m². AHU scenting diffuses at the air handling unit itself, upstream of the duct network, giving one consistent character across every zone fed by that plant. Standalone is £599 ex VAT or £59/month; HVAC and AHU are £799 or £99/month.
The problem
Most buyers are quoted one system without being told what the alternatives would have cost or covered. The right answer depends on plant, zoning and how the building is actually used.
Buying too small means a room that only smells right near the unit. Buying too large means paying for coverage and oil you never use.
Coverage
Our approach
If there is usable supply ductwork or an accessible AHU, ducted scenting is usually cheaper per square metre than several standalone units.
Ceiling height, door traffic and air-change rate drive output far more than floor area does.
Independent settings per zone stop a busy entrance dragging the whole building's intensity up with it.
