Scenting systems

Three ways to scent a building.

Standalone, HVAC and AHU scenting systems compared — coverage, install, running cost and which one suits your building.

What is commercial scenting systems?

Commercial scenting systems come in three forms. A standalone diffuser sits in the room and covers up to 500m² — plug-and-play, no plant required. HVAC scenting injects fragrance into existing supply ductwork, carrying scent with conditioned air to every zone that duct serves, up to 1,000m². AHU scenting diffuses at the air handling unit itself, upstream of the duct network, giving one consistent character across every zone fed by that plant. Standalone is £599 ex VAT or £59/month; HVAC and AHU are £799 or £99/month.

  • Standalone — up to 500m², plug-and-play, no plant access needed
  • HVAC — up to 1,000m², injected into supply duct, install typically under two hours
  • AHU — one character across every zone fed by the unit

The problem

What makes this space different

Most buyers are quoted one system without being told what the alternatives would have cost or covered. The right answer depends on plant, zoning and how the building is actually used.

Buying too small means a room that only smells right near the unit. Buying too large means paying for coverage and oil you never use.

Coverage

Areas we specify

  • Single rooms and open-plan floors — standalone
  • Buildings with existing HVAC supply ductwork — HVAC integration
  • Buildings with central air handling plant — AHU integration
  • Multi-zone buildings needing independent settings per area
  • Multi-site estates running one signature fragrance

Our approach

How we get it right

Start with the plant

If there is usable supply ductwork or an accessible AHU, ducted scenting is usually cheaper per square metre than several standalone units.

Size on volume and air changes

Ceiling height, door traffic and air-change rate drive output far more than floor area does.

Zone before you scale

Independent settings per zone stop a busy entrance dragging the whole building's intensity up with it.

FAQs

Commercial scenting systems: FAQs

HVAC scenting injects fragrance into a run of supply ductwork, so it scents the zones that duct serves. AHU scenting diffuses at the air handling unit itself, upstream of the whole duct network, so every zone fed by that plant carries the same fragrance at the same intensity.

If the space is under 500m² and you want it running this week, a standalone unit. If the building has usable supply ductwork or accessible central plant and you need several areas consistent, HVAC or AHU integration.

Standalone units are plug-and-play into a standard three-pin socket. HVAC and AHU integration typically takes under two hours and is scheduled around your operating hours.

On the monthly plan the price is the running cost: £59 or £99 per month covers hardware, fragrance, servicing and support. Buying outright, premium scent oils are £99 for 500ml or £179 for 1L, and a 500ml cartridge typically lasts eight to ten weeks.
