Scenteq — scenting spaces
Hotel scenting in a sunlit lobby as a guest crosses reception

Hotels & Resorts

A signature arrival, from lobby to spa.

One scent, held consistently across every space a guest walks through.

The challenge

The experience challenge in hotels

A lobby competes with kitchens, laundry, traffic and constant door movement. Scent is the one detail that carries across all of it.

Guests move from arrival to corridors to spa in a single journey. Each area has different airflow — so each needs its own intensity, not the same diffuser twice.

Systems

Recommended solutions

HVAC scenting systems

Best for larger properties where the lobby, corridors and public areas share ventilation infrastructure and need one consistent character.

AHU scenting solutions

Where a hotel's air handling units serve distinct zones, scenting can be specified per AHU so the lobby, spa and conference floors can differ in intensity.

Standalone scent diffusers

For individual suites, boutique properties, spa treatment rooms or heritage buildings where ducted integration isn't practical.

Signature scent development

A bespoke fragrance developed around a property's positioning and brand — extendable to amenities and retail where required.

Our approach

How Scenteq works with hotels & resorts

  1. 01

    Plan around operations

We assess needs during quiet periods and plan installation around occupancy, events and housekeeping schedules.

  2. 02

    Zone by guest journey

Arrival, circulation and leisure areas are treated as separate zones with their own intensity and scheduling.

  3. 03

    Group and estate rollouts

For hotel groups we document the specification so the same scheme can be replicated consistently across properties.

  4. 04

    Service without disruption

Replenishment and maintenance visits are scheduled with the operations team, not dropped on the front desk.

Fragrance

Relevant fragrance direction

  • Warm woods, amber and soft musk for classic and luxury properties
  • Clean fig, citrus and green tea for contemporary city hotels
  • Coastal, mineral and herbal accords for resort and country properties
  • Quieter eucalyptus and cedar profiles for spa and wellness zones

Buyer's guide

What to know before scenting a hotel

Hotels are judged in the first ten seconds of the lobby. The decisions that matter are coverage, intensity and how the scent behaves when the doors open on a cold morning.

Standalone or HVAC?

A single lobby under 500 m² is usually a standalone unit. Once you are linking lobby, lift lobbies and corridors, duct-integrated diffusion through the AHU gives even coverage without hardware on show.

Intensity is set on site

Air changes, revolving doors and ceiling height all dilute fragrance. We commission at a conservative level and tune upward once your team has lived with it for a week.

Cost in plain terms

Standalone is £599 outright or £59 per month all-in; HVAC is £799 or £99 per month, both ex VAT. Oil, servicing and support are included in the subscription.

What we'll ask on the call

Have these to hand and we can usually quote the same day.

  • Lobby floor area and ceiling height
  • How often the main doors open in winter
  • Whether corridors and lift lobbies share the AHU
  • Housekeeping and breakfast smells that need masking
  • Who signs off the scent — brand, GM or ops

Trust

What you can hold us to.

We would rather under-promise. These are commitments we can evidence — not claims about how much you will sell.

  • IFRA-certified fragrance

Oils are supplied to IFRA standards with safety data sheets available before you order.

  • Written price before install

System, scent, install date and monthly cost confirmed in writing before you order.

  • Installed and serviced by us

UK engineers, insured and DBS-checked, fitted around your opening hours — not a drop-shipped box.

  • Dry vapour, no residue

Cold-air diffusion leaves no oily film on surfaces, glass or soft furnishings.

  • Tuned after installation

We refine the intensity after go-live so the scent feels right in the space.

FAQs

Hotels & Resorts scenting FAQs

Yes. The majority of our hotel installations take place in occupied properties. Work is planned in stages around occupancy, with quiet-hours access where needed.

Yes, provided the areas are served by separate zones or units. We confirm what is achievable during the consultation and specify accordingly.

Only if you want it to. Most schemes cover public and circulation areas only, and bedrooms are deliberately excluded unless a property requests in-room diffusion.

We provide scheduled fragrance replenishment and servicing at intervals set by the size of the system and hours of operation.

Yes. We can develop a signature scent for the property or the group, or select from an existing library if you want to move quickly.

In their words

What clients tell us afterwards.

Feedback from live UK installations, published with client sign-off. Most sites ask to stay unnamed, so we publish the role, sector and city instead.

Hotel lobby scenting: a sunlit reception area with warm stone and timber finishes
The lobby reads as finished now. Guests do not comment on the fragrance — they comment on the hotel feeling more expensive.

Installed between shifts, no mess, and the reception team stopped noticing it within a fortnight. That was the goal.
