This policy explains how Scenteq Ltd uses cookies and similar technologies (pixels, local storage, SDKs) on this website, the lawful bases we rely on under the UK GDPR and the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003 ("PECR"), and how you can manage your preferences. Read it alongside our Privacy Policy.

Change your cookie settings

1. What cookies are

Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. They may be session cookies (deleted when you close your browser) or persistent, and may be set by us (first-party) or by third parties whose services we embed. PECR treats local storage, pixels and similar techniques the same way as cookies, so this policy covers all of them.

2. Categories we use

• Strictly necessary — required for the site to work: routing, security, load balancing, remembering your cookie choice (scenteq_cookie_consent_v2, stored in local storage for 6 months) and processing form submissions. Set without consent under PECR Regulation 6(4). These cannot be switched off.
• Analytics (consent required) — help us understand how the site is used so we can improve it. Where enabled we use Google Analytics 4 with IP anonymisation; typical cookies are _ga and _ga_*, retained for up to 24 months, set by Google.
• Advertising / conversion measurement (consent required) — used to measure which advertising campaigns generate enquiries. We use Google Ads conversion tracking (Google Ireland Limited); where enabled, typical cookies are _gcl_au and related Google advertising cookies, lasting up to 13 months. We do not use these cookies to build advertising profiles or to retarget you across other websites.
• Functional (consent required where non-essential) — remember non-essential choices that enhance your experience, such as previously entered calculator values. Typically stored in local storage until you clear it.

We use Google Consent Mode. The Google tag is present on our pages, but until you actively allow analytics or advertising it is set to "denied": no analytics or advertising cookies or identifiers are stored on your device and no advertising data is shared with Google. Until you make a choice, only the strictly necessary category operates.

3. Lawful basis and how consent works here

All non-essential cookies are set only with your prior, freely given, specific, informed and unambiguous consent (PECR Regulation 6 and UK GDPR Article 6(1)(a)), collected via our cookie banner. Nothing optional is pre-ticked; "Reject all" is presented as prominently as "Accept all"; access to the site is not conditional on accepting cookies (no cookie wall); and continuing to browse or scrolling is not treated as consent. We record your choice, the version of the banner shown and the date and time as evidence of consent under Article 7(1).

4. Managing and withdrawing consent

Use the "Change your cookie settings" button above, or the "Cookie settings" link in the site footer, to grant or withdraw consent per category at any time — withdrawing is as easy as giving consent and takes effect immediately for future page loads. Your choice is stored for 6 months, after which we ask again. Withdrawing consent does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out beforehand. Any cookies already set by a third party can also be deleted through your browser settings, which allow you to block or delete cookies generally — though strictly necessary cookies are needed for the site to work correctly.

5. Third-party cookies and transfers

Where you consent to analytics or advertising, the relevant provider acts as an independent controller or joint controller for its own processing and may transfer data outside the UK/EEA under approved safeguards such as the UK Addendum to the EU Standard Contractual Clauses. We have no control over cookies set by external sites you reach from our links. Embedded content (for example a map or video) may set cookies only after you consent.

6. Do Not Track and global signals

Optional cookies remain off unless you actively allow them, so browsers sending "Do Not Track" or Global Privacy Control signals are respected by default.

7. Changes and contact

The exact cookies set may change as we update service providers; a current list, including names, purposes, providers and lifetimes, is available on request from hello@scenteq.com. We review this policy at least annually and post any updates on this page with a revised "last updated" date. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
